How and when did your store start up?

We are the second location of Green Token Cannabis to open its doors (with more scheduled to open soon). We officially opened our Edmond location on July 17, 2017.

What’s the story behind the name of your store?

We had just got back from our vacation to Las Vegas. Poker is my husband’s game of choice so we were throwing around names and a poker chip is also a token. So, what better way to relax then to toke on some great quality green weed . . . and Green Token Cannabis was born.

What does your store offer customers that they can’t find anywhere else?

Green Token Cannabis Edmonds is about the elevating the guest experience. We provide a space that is comfortable and inviting; we take the time to answer all questions whether they be from a first-time consumers or cannabis connoisseur. Additionally, our team members are all experts with years of experience working with the plant—so our knowledge of the plant and different methods of consumption are very expansive.

How has the cannabis industry changed since you have been in the business? Where would you like to see it go?

We would say the biggest change we have seen since opening would be relating to the advertising rules. As a new store, it has been difficult getting the word out to Edmonds, and surrounding communities, that we are open for business.

Eventually what we would like to see is more cannabis discussion and compromise from both retailer owners and the Washington State Liquor Control Board. Too often the cannabis discussion is one-sided, which results in rules that are too limiting on legitimate business.

What are the biggest challenges you face in this industry as a store? . . . Biggest joys?

Our biggest joy is helping first-time buyers feel informed about their purchasing decisions, as well as seeing return guests rave about their Green Token experience.

What is the one thing you want patients/customers to know about your store?

We will take the time to answer all your questions, whether it be five minutes or an hour. We want you to feel confident during your selection process so that you are able to maximize your cannabis experience while in the comforts of your own home.

If someone wanted to open a store and get their feet wet in the industry, what advice or counsel would you give them?

We need to work together as an industry in order to drive more discussion surrounding cannabis. Business in fighting, “price wars” and shady tactics only harm our industry and devalue the legitimate work we all do to provide cannabis products to patients and consumers.

What do you hope to accomplish in the cannabis industry?

We hope to change the perception of what a cannabis shopping experience is like; we are professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Come experience the Green Token Cannabis difference today!
