Now in its 12th year, the Inland Valley’s alternative music fest is still going strong in the grassy fields surrounded by the desert dunes of Coachella. Filled with multiple stages and non-stop music, this year’s lineup is a stellar as any other, most prominently featuring former Gnarls Barkley-ite, Cee Lo Green and his smash breakup anthem, “F*** You.” Also on the bill are everything from trance to hip-hop to altpop and rock, including Kanye West, The Strokes, Cold War Kids, Crystal Castles, Sleigh Bells, Warpaint, Neon Trees, Gogol Bordello, Mumford & Sons, CSS, Duck Sauce (who we hope play their hilarious tune, “Barbra Streisand”), The Kills, Morning Benders, New Pornographers, Chromeo and stunning Brit chicks, Eliza Doolittle and Marina and the Diamonds. There’s also much art to be seen, including giant sculptures and quirky humans running around in animal suits. As usual, camping is available for the three-day event, or if you’re over 30, perhaps the hotels with free shuttles are more your speed. Don’t forget the daytime temps usually soar into the 100s (with frosty numbers descending at nightfall), so grab that sun block, parka and a wad of cash to spend on water, and be prepared to shake your shape with some of the most talented bands on the planet.
